CHECK OUT FLEISHER OLLMAN

http://fleisher-ollmangallery.com/exhibitions.php
Went to the Fleisher Ollman Gallery and seen the Dufala Brothers exhibition. It went pretty far beyond my expectations. Classy, clever, and entertaining. Great example of "playing on words", the expected and how ones material relates to the subject. I recommend checking it out. Right on Walnut, 1616 I believe? Good food too

Tiffany Post: ??

I did this drawing at work while using a mug root beer can as refrence.

Ben post 9?

For my weekly drawing assignment i did a close up detail study of a bamboo plant i have at my house.
This is also a brief sketch of a project i did in my Intermedia class. My project is dealing with mural work and the whole idea of street art, and the positive impact public art has on a community.
I recently came across artist, "Jonas Burgery" and immediately fell in love with his work. Jonas Burgery is a German artist who's work deals with human existence and the constant need or struggle to figure out our purpose in life. His canvases are overwhelmingly huge at times consisting of a surreal setting and figures doing bizarre gestures and actions. I love his color palette and his overall compositions. Not to be negative, but from what i've read his color palette shows the dark, eery feeling of the inevitable, and the failure of finding the meaning to existence. That being said, i think his paintings are very captivating, and interesting to say the least.

An example of how large his detailed paintings are.

Post Nine/ For April 3rd.

This week I have a drawing that I have nicknamed "First day of 7th grade". I realized part way through that it reminded me of the insecurities of appearance during that age and how easily young adults are taunted for having pimples, greasy hair, strange proportions, the common "awkward stage". How strange it was for your body to be changing before your eyes, wanting to hide your new achey protrusions from your chest and the constant worrying if you are "pretty enough." I have come to realize that some aspects of my work come from low self-esteem I have had through the majority of my life. From my very first day of school I was awkward and shy, now out of my shell a bit I still retain all of my awkwardness...but at least now I talk!

First off, I could not get good lighting for the photo so it did not come out well, but here it is!

The artist I would like to highlight is Abigale Wenrich. Not only because I have known her for the 4 1/2 years I have been dating her brother, but because she is one of my favorite people to be around.
Abigale graduated from PCAD in 2009( Pennsylvania college of art and design located in Lancaster, Pa) She majored in Illustration and currently she is making pieces that are
displayed on a website that produces short stories which you can

A combination of sex and humor, her work something I can completely relate to. The textures she achieves are great, and Abigale truly uses her medium of watercolor to her advantage.
Unfortunately at this current moment she does not have a whole lot uploaded to places I can snag, but I have contacted her and hopefully she will send me some photos of her bigger pieces. Here are a few I found, some are quicker works.

Post for April 2nd 2012

Okay so this is my Collage graphite on Bristol paper, which is easier to manipulate than water color paper or something with more tooth. I think I'm pretty satisfied with it for the amount of time I had to work with it, normally I don't render things realistically or rather photo realistic. I don't find it necessary and I find it to be something exhausted in terms of aesthetic interest, for me it has to be something very interesting other wise... I could just look at a photograph. I can push this more, with more time, torture the paper a lot more.
This Wonderful man is Nick Cave hes known for his sound suits which I find very interesting, interactive, and clever, I've been looking at him recently for several reasons, he's gay black and works with textile. He has a background in Fashion which is something I don't know much about but is relative to what I've been investigating.

Post 9

This week I did 2 drawings. This was the first, something I just did on a whim om my patio made from sticks, flower petals, charcoal and chalk. As I was drawing it I thought it looked like some kind of ritual piece, and felt like the image of the eye was calling for communication toward the sky.

This was what was left of the drawing the next day after it rained, almost like the rain had accepted it as an offering.

The second drawing is of my boyfriend when he fell asleep on my sofa.

Jason Moorer - Post XI: Grace Coddington Spread, Daily Drawing and "Photographic Memory" Drawing

Grace Coddington is the current creative director of US Vogue since 1988. Recently Grace worked with photographer Tim Walker and supermodel Kate Moss for a spread in the April issue. I found the spread incredibly inspiring; Walker creates majestic opulence photographing Moss in Fall 2012 couture at the Ritz in Paris, France. It is evident the influence of Rococo architecture/artwork in the photographs. I love the over-the-top tackiness, which I find really aesthetically pleasing. I always pondered if objects could be campy, though I think those who adopt this design aesthetic are intentionally trying to create a space of indulgence and as we know camp only works best when it plays on the subject’s naïveté. Nevertheless, these photographs captivated me.

My subject this week is a continuation of last week, which are collages of textured, print paper and newspaper/newsprint paper.

Here is my completed ”Photographic Memory” drawing.
