Mariel V

This is what I would have shown you in last week's class if I hadn't been sick.
My piece is still in progress, there are still details that need to be added. Underneath are my studies for this project, regarding transforming the Arnolfini Wedding Portrait into a contemporary piece consisting of modern attire and still life objects. These studies, as well as the Final work in progress, including the suggestion of photography. Digital photography is an immensely unique innovation that has occurred and been practiced since the Renaissance. Therefore, I thought this very modern discovery should be a key element of this piece

I chose to work with Paul Verlaine's poem Clair de lune for our 'Read it and Weep' project. This poem served a high influence in some Symbolist works, including Claude Debussy's musical orchestration of the poem. I've personally been drawn to both the poem as well as the music versions of Clair de lune. This will help me induce feeling towards the combination to translate on paper for our abstract portion of this assignment. For our textual portion of the assignment, this is one of the ideas I've been thinking of. I have multiple ideas however, using photography might further my options in choice of media.
