Sara Post VII

My mother used to be obsessed with Raggedy Ann dolls and our kitchen was full of all kinds of Raggedy Ann stuff. When we moved she decided to put most of it away, but I had never noticed this one very awkward doll that was still left on one of the kitchen shelves until this past week while I was home. I saw it and laughed out loud... it's flattened, box chested, and has a mullet. I felt compelled to draw it and felt that a simple micron drawing was suitable.... I  should go back into this and adjust some line weight issues.

I've been interested in the topic of appropriation a lot lately and one artist who often appropriates film, photography, and printed sources to create his work. He constantly uses figures in his work. I like his desaturated color palette, it reminds me of Michael Borremans.
