Post 4/ 17/12

High 5 Archive: Final Project. So this isn't  a drawing but it will be apart of a drawing for my final project of the semester. I'm working with the same subject matter this time dealing with domestic spaces male body image and objectification. I've started a kitchen painting or my painting class and I have been looking in to sleeping models investigating placing males in passive states putting the viewer in a position of power and observation.

The installation will have collages of nudes from photographs that I have collected for my painting and drawing works. The environment  will be a kitchen or an illusion of a kitchen which I will present my collages ( which are digitally produced and then printed out) with objects associated with  the kitchen and food. The collages will be stuck on the fridge with a magnet, hug on the wall with the some other objects and placed in meat packaging trays with plastic wrap.

The collages will be of nudes in erotic poses and "Meat" abstracted the figure and making the viewer investigate the object/ collage closer.

I've been known to work unconventionally in terms of drawing in painting I see myself as a traditionalist in terms of process. However in drawing I'm less likely to directly go for pencil, marker, paper etc.. I decided to take a opportunity to explore the use of found objects in relation to 2D work deeper than just "framing the work but introducing an environment

I have been introduced to a an artist whose working with Identity and has a show up now at the Bridget Mayer gallery. He works with friends and family's photographs using repetition and duplication. German Gomez is really "cool"
